Why I Started Making Breast Milk Jewelry (The Story Behind Golden Nest)

Why I Started Making Breast Milk Jewelry (The Story Behind Golden Nest)

If you would have told me a few years ago that I’d be creating breast milk jewelry for other moms, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

But looking back, it actually makes sense.

I’ve always been someone who is drawn to creating—whether it’s something crafty, something meaningful, or even just putting together an outfit that feels like me. I’ve always loved fashion, details, and anything that feels personal and intentional. So in a way, Golden Nest feels like a natural extension of who I’ve always been.

It just took motherhood to bring it out in a completely different way.

Motherhood Changes Everything

When I was pregnant with my daughter, Ren, everything felt slow and full of anticipation. I remember thinking I would always remember that season—how it felt to carry her, how much life was about to change, and how present I was in those moments.

And then she was here.

And just like everyone says… it goes fast.

The long nights, the constant feeding schedules, the learning curve of motherhood—it was beautiful, but it was also hard. Breastfeeding, especially, was a journey. One that stretched me in ways I didn’t expect.

There were moments that felt overwhelming, moments that felt so special, and a lot in between.

And even in the middle of it, I remember thinking… I don’t want to forget this.

The First Spark: Wanting to Remember

That feeling is what led me to discover breast milk jewelry.

The idea that you could take something so personal—something that represented such a big part of your motherhood journey—and turn it into a keepsake you could wear every day… it stayed with me.

It wasn’t just about having something pretty.

It was about remembering.

Remembering the hard parts, the beautiful parts, and everything that came with that season.

How Golden Nest Truly Began

Golden Nest didn’t fully come to life until later—during my surrogacy journey.

That experience changed everything for me.

Going through pregnancy again, but in a completely different way, gave me a deeper understanding of how meaningful these seasons really are. It was an emotional, beautiful, and incredibly unique experience—one that I knew I would want to hold onto in some way.

And that’s when it really clicked.

I didn’t just want a piece for myself—I wanted to create that opportunity for other women too.

Because whether it’s your own baby, a surrogacy journey, or any path through motherhood, those moments deserve to be remembered in a tangible way.

More Than Just Jewelry

Breast milk jewelry is often something people haven’t heard of before.

But once they understand it, it becomes so much more than just jewelry.

It represents:
• a season of life that changed you
• the connection between you and your baby
• the strength it took to go through it
• and the memories you don’t want to lose

Each piece I create is completely custom, using your breast milk or other meaningful inclusions, and designed to reflect your story.

No two pieces are the same—because no two journeys are.

A Piece You Can Actually Live In

One thing that was really important to me when creating Golden Nest was that these pieces weren’t just meaningful—they needed to be wearable.

I didn’t want something that sits in a box.

I use high-quality materials like gold-filled and sterling silver so your keepsake jewelry can be worn daily and still last. Because your story should be something you carry with you, not something you tuck away.

My Life Lately

These days, my life is a mix of motherhood and creating.

It’s days spent with Ren—just being girls together, doing life side by side—and in between those moments, I’m working on Golden Nest. Designing, creating, and carefully making each piece by hand.

It’s a rhythm that feels really aligned with who I am.

Creative, intentional, and rooted in the season I’m in right now.

Why This Matters to Me

Golden Nest is more than a business.

It’s a way to take something fleeting and turn it into something lasting.

Motherhood moves quickly. The seasons change, the routines shift, and before you know it, you’re onto the next chapter.

If I can help preserve even a small piece of that for someone—something they can wear, hold onto, and look back on—that means everything to me.

If You’re Here

If you’ve found your way here, you’re probably in one of those seasons right now.

And if you’ve ever had the thought, “I wish I could hold onto this somehow,”—that’s exactly what these pieces are for.
