How to Care for Your Golden Nest Keepsake Jewelry

How to Care for Your Golden Nest Keepsake Jewelry

Your Golden Nest piece holds something irreplaceable, so a little extra care can help keep it beautiful for years to come.

Our keepsake stones are resin-based, which allows us to preserve meaningful inclusions like breastmilk, ashes, hair, flowers, and more. Because resin isn't as hard as a natural gemstone or diamond, your keepsake jewelry should be treated a little more gently than traditional fine jewelry.

14K Gold Filled vs. Sterling Silver

14K Gold Filled

Gold filled is different from gold plated jewelry. It has a much thicker layer of real 14K gold bonded to a base metal, giving you the look and feel of gold at a more accessible price point than solid gold.

With proper care, gold filled jewelry can stay beautiful for years. I recommend limiting exposure to chlorine, harsh chemicals, lotions, perfumes, and other products that can affect both the metal and your keepsake stone over time.

.925 Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is made with 92.5% pure silver. Because it is a precious metal, it can naturally tarnish over time from exposure to air, moisture, skin oils, lotions, and everyday wear.

Tarnishing is completely normal and doesn't mean your jewelry is damaged. A gentle polish with a jewelry cleaning cloth can help bring back its shine.

Caring for Your Keepsake Stone

Your keepsake stone is handcrafted using resin, so I recommend treating it a little more gently than you would a diamond or traditional gemstone.

For the longest life of your piece, remove your jewelry before swimming, getting into a hot tub, showering, cleaning with household chemicals, or doing anything that could scratch or damage the stone. It's also best to apply lotions, sunscreen, perfume, and other beauty products before putting your jewelry on.

Normal hand washing is okay—just avoid soaking your jewelry and gently dry it afterward.

Storing & Cleaning Your Jewelry

Every Golden Nest jewelry order comes with a soft storage pouch and jewelry cleaning cloth.

When you're not wearing your piece, keep it in the pouch to help protect it from scratches, moisture, and everyday exposure. Use the included cleaning cloth to gently polish the metal as needed.

Avoid using harsh jewelry cleaners or chemicals directly on your keepsake stone.

Your Golden Nest piece was created to hold a tiny piece of a moment you never want to forget. A little extra care will help keep that memory—and your jewelry—beautiful for years to come.
